BLAZE meets on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Aim: BLAZE offers young people Bible-based teaching that encourages a sophisticated relationship with God.  Blaze seeks to engage with the faith of the young people in a way that encourages them to grow closer to God. Looking at questions the young people themselves are asking we seek to be relevant to their needs.

We aim to help young people become mature Christians and to follow Jesus for themselves.

In the autumn term we looked at the book of Acts.

                                                             Overview of Acts

Acts is an exciting book that follows the story of how the church was started by God through Jesus' 12 disciples/Apostles.  It follows on from the Gospel of Luke (Luke wrote Acts too) and starts just after Jesus' resurrection.  In the opening three chapters we see Jesus being taken up into heaven, the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, and three thousand new believers following Peter's first preach!  We then see the church grow rapidly through the region of Jerusalem and the reaction of the Jew's to what would become Christianity.

The church in Acts has its problems, its heroes, but with no doubt we see God at work in the lives of many believers through the power of His Holy Spirit.  We then meet Paul, a persecutor of believers, and a Jew, meet God on the road to Damascus in a life changing moment.  From there we follow Paul on his mission to preach the gospel to the Gentiles (non Jews) and his ministry that takes him and his brothers (other belivers) to many different cities, starting public debate about the risen Saviour of the world (Jesus), planting churches, and encouraging believers as he travels.

We meet many interesting characters (male and female) as we read through Acts and the challenge to us in the 21st Century is to live a life with the same passion for Jesus Christ as we see the people in this amazing book have.

The church in Acts looks very different to the one we have today.  They had no church buildings, no rock bands, no New Testament (it hadn't been written then!) just the life of Jesus to inspire them to live like Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Go on read it and be inspired.

Pray: Father God as I read the story of the early church let it teach me how to live a life for you where I step out in faith knowing I can rely on you for my every need.  Amen
